Process
The cover artwork for St. John’s Wort is the result of many collaborative conversations on trauma, healing, and memories between the writer, Alexus Erin and I.
Film photos, vintage botanical illustration, and salvaged paper are among the materials used to create this digital collage. I wanted the printed cover to feel tactile so I incorporated watercolor, handmade paper and embroidery for the main elements.
The imagery is inspired by Erin’s poetry and the reflection of Mt. San Salvatore on Lake Lugano, in Switzerland.
